Frequently Asked Questions
I think I have observed a violation of the fire code, what should I do: Complaints may be submitted here via the MOFD website by using our on-line system. The link is provided below. It is important to read the FAQ's and follow the 7 steps outlined below.
Note: If you have already submitted a Hazard Concern for a parcel this year, do NOT start a new Hazard Concern form for the same parcel. Please refer to the initial confirmation email sent to you to update communications.
Include up to 5 photos documenting the condition you are reporting. Before submitting a complaint, please review the fire code requirements.
What if I have observed a condition which is not a violation of the fire code? MOFD is limited to enforcing the fire code and cannot compel a landowner to carry out work which exceeds the fire code minimums.
When will my complaint be addressed? MOFD’s enforcement priorities are:
- Evacuation route roadside clearance.
- Large parcels within the City/Town limits.
- Public land and buildings.
- High hazard areas identified in the Community Wildfire Prevention Plan (CWPP).
- Property transfer inspections.
Inspections of priority areas will continue through the end of July. Once the inspections of these priority areas are completed, all concerns will be reviewed in the order they were received. You can check the status of your concern by referring to your confirmation email.
