The goal of this guidebook is to familiarize land managers, homeowners, and communities with the hazardous fuel treatment types that are best suited for their landscapes and provide guidelines for protecting sensitive species and their habitats during implementation. These guidelines take the form of Best Management Practices, or BMP's that are designed to help the user prepare and comply with federal and natural resource laws.

Residents can use the provided landcover look up tool to determine the types of vegetation present on their parcel using outputs from the Alameda-Contra Costa Fine Scale Vegetation Mapping Project.
