The District reminds residents that many products found in our homes are potentially hazardous substances. They can poison, corrode, explode, or ignite when stored or handled improperly. When indiscriminately discarded along with household trash these substances can threaten human and environmental health.

For proper disposal of household hazardous waste, Contra Costa County has established a special Waste Collection Facility that gives local residents and small businesses an environmentally sound alternative. All communities within the Moraga-Orinda Fire District service area are eligible to use this facility. Residents may drop off household hazardous waste at no charge. Small businesses pay a small fee to dispose of their hazardous waste.
