Selling a home? The Fire Code requires the Seller to provide Buyers with a certificate of compliance with all real estate transactions. To obtain a certificate of compliance, you must first abate any exterior hazards.

Once the parcel has been brought into compliance, see below for the instructions on how to request a Certificate of Compliance.  The Seller or Realtor can use the self-report function (free) or can request an in-person inspection (fee applies) by submitting a request via the on-line portal.   Please see our fee schedule for the Property Sale or Transfer Inspection fee.

Please be informed:

1. Obtaining a Certificate of Compliance is approximately two to three weeks.
2. The Certificate of Compliance is valid for 90 days from the date of being issued.

1. Enter Property Address
2. In the “Describe Your Problem” field, please enter “Submitting a Self-Report for a Property Sale or Transfer” or "Requesting an Inspection for a Property Sale or Transfer"
3.  You must include the address or Assessor’s parcel number (APN).
4. Drag/drop or upload images*, if any, in the box below. 
5. *Upload photos in the specified order as shown in the below diagram (photo #1, photo #2 front of house, etc.)
6. Photos cannot be deleted once uploaded.  (Maximum of 5 photos). 
7. Press SUBMIT
8. Enter Contact Information
9. Press SUBMIT CONTACT INFORMATION
10. You will receive a confirmation e-mail.
