John Jex represents the Moraga-Orinda Fire District’s District 2.  John and his wife Marlene have resided in Moraga for 43 years.  Their son and daughter attended schools in Moraga and graduated from Miramonte High School.

John earned his B.S. and Master of Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University.  He spent his professional career with the professional service firm Deloitte in San Francisco as a Certified Public Accountant, (CPA).  He served as an audit partner with the firm with client responsibilities for numerous food, health care, manufacturing and transportation companies. During John’s career he served as president as well as a member of the board of directors of a national and regional trade organization.  He also was active in several industry groups.

Since retiring John has served on several boards of directors and as a member and advisor of their audit committees.  He has also served in many leadership and service positions for his church and other community organization. During his retirement John and his wife Marlene volunteered full time for a three year period as Directors of Humanitarian Services in Eastern Europe and Southeast Africa for a large non-government organization.  During this period they coordinated disaster relief services, medical training, distribution of wheel chairs, clean water projects, early childhood development training, food production projects and immunization programs.
